Ferrari 599 GTB by Hot Wheels Elite

Managed to get the 599 for a very reasonable price. It's a really nice model but it does come with a few annoying flaws...

First, the interior looks really well made; the leather seats are the highlight. In my opinion, the representation of leather here looks much better here than in more expensive models where it all just looks awfully out of scale and crude.

But then as we look closer...

QC wasn't the models forte; a lot of the things inside are not well put together, especially that dashboard. Also, aside from the floor mats, the carpeting looks somewhat confused -- too much is going on. Still, we can be proud of what HW did here because the interior is one of those things that really stick out in this model.

The engine was a pain to photograph but, from what can be seen, it looks like a really good replica of the 6.0L V12 Enzo engine.

And I'll give HW lots of credit for this:

... and these added goodies:

A lot of people seem to have a problem with the wheels (they are ugly) but, in person, I can't seem to find much wrong with it. The size is fine so that leaves the tires, and you have to admit they're pretty thick...

So, all in all, it's a very decent model of a car that isn't the prettiest to begin with, and that is no easy task! I do have a problem with QC and the windows that seem to have been made by the same material you'll find on the clear window of the model's box. Not handling it with care and/or exposing it to really hot temperatures can cause damage. I can live with the funky stance on the rear wheels although it would be nice if HW would start making rear wheels that spin independently from one another.

Again, it's a nice model; just not worth the retail price. So wait and find one for a good deal like I did, it's not very hard.
